I am a fan of chekhov’s work… thanks for this great review.

After Reading To The Actor, watching hours of video on “Master Classes on the Michael Chekhov Technique” and reading portions of other books on Chekhov, I realised that I was missing something.  Throughout these resources, Chekhov’s philosophical views and spiritual beliefs were briefly touched on or hinted at.  I asked myself, “What were Chekhov’s beliefs which so deeply influenced his work?”  I was lucky to find a great resource which shed some light on this (the book The Rhythm of Space and the Sound of Time by Cynthia Ashperger).  Unfortunately reading on Chekhov’s philosophical influences was not easy.  At times it was overwhelming and I must admit that I don’t have a full understanding of them.  Even so, I found this preliminary knowledge useful.  A large part what I discuss here, is not so much the detail of these philosophical beliefs, but rather what Chekhov took away from them…

Where I come to life as an Actress… Kara Peterson

How do you describe Kara Peterson?

Well, it depends on whom you ask and the day but Kara Peterson does have a worldly outlook on life.  She is an open and curious individual. She comes to life in roles that are shocking and provocative. Often playing individualistic sexual women.

While Casting Think Sexuality:

-Sexual Forbidden Affairs

-Sexual Taboo

A few examples:

Damaged- Juliet Binoche

The Postman Always Rings TwiceJessica Lange

9 1/2 Weeks- Kim Basinger

A Dangerous MethodKeira Knightley

The Reader– Kate Winslet

CatwomenHalle Berry

Blue Velvet- Isabella Rossellini

The Human Stain: Nicole Kidman

Unbearable Lightness of Being– Lena Olin

Fools in Love

Venus in Furs

I went through a private with John Dapolito who does a psychological profile to see where one comes to life as and actress.

#1. Sexuality as mentioned above.

#2. Death/Suicide

#3. Individualistic/Independent

Now… I have grown and been going through a transformation for the last few years and was wanting to move past the sexuality. However, as I have posted before, I am drawn to darker roles. I fought these finding but instead I need to see the gift it is and how it can be of service.

All feedback welcomed!!!

Thought of the day- It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.

Question for the wise one’s…..

Acting is about life….and we are all actors in one way. I use acting as a way to express but still don’t quite understand why I tend to be drawn to the darker twisted roles. Other then the obvious, we all have that inside and many feel it must be kept hidden. :)

But, is it also realizing my focus is to much on the neg and not enough on the positive?

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.

Marianne Williamson

Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.

Carl Jung

Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people.

Congrats to my friend Ricardo!!!! Great Interview and I hope one day we get to work together again!

An exclusive interview with @GillianFx

The best way to describe Ricardo Cordero is multi-talented. An actor, writer, producer, director, singer and dancer, Ricardo currently runs Global Network Pictures in NYC. I’ve had the pleasure of working with him a few years ago when I lived in NY and worked in theater. His presence on stage is commanding, he has a way of making you take notice and really brings the character to life. It is an absolute joy to watch him at work, in his element.

Call-outHow long have you been in the business?

I have been involved with show business most of my life in many forms. I made my first television appearance at the age of 3 and my first stage appearance at the age of 4. I formed Global Network Pictures 13 years ago. Since then we have made 3 feature films and many commercials.
